5: Stone Snyder, LB (Sr.) — VMI
Six-foot-3. 240 pounds. Crazy athleticism. And the name Stone Snyder. This guy was born to play linebacker, and he’s been one of the best in the FCS for multiple seasons.
Snyder’s breakout year came in the spring, finishing eighth in the FCS with 11 tackles per game. He was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Year, totaling 88 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and eight sacks.
The tackling machine was at it again last fall, ranking sixth in FCS tackles per game (10.9).
Snyder racked up 120 tackles, 11 TFLs, and four sacks. He had six games with double-digit tackles, including 11 and 1.5 TFLs against FBS Kent State. Snyder garnered All-Conference First Team accolades and earned several All-American honors: HERO Sports Second Team, Stats Perform Second Team, Athlon First Team, AFCA Second Team, and Phil Steele Second Team. He finished 13th in voting for the Buck Buchanan Award.
Snyder heads into 2022 as our No. 5 returning FCS linebacker and a HERO Sports Preseason First Team All-American.
