The Pioneer Football League is the 11th of 13 FCS conferences to announce its spring season plans and the 10th to say it plans to play.
Full details on each conference and their spring season formats can be found here.
Ten league members from the PFL will play, although each institution can decide to opt out at their own discretion. The conference will play a six-game conference schedule with the projected dates of competition starting March 13 and ending April 17.
Teams are allowed to schedule non-conference games.
The PFL champion will receive an auto-bid into the FCS playoffs.
“The League fully recognizes that this is an aspirational plan given the current severe state of the coronavirus pandemic and the many unknowns in the coming months for the country, the diverse set of states in which our schools exist, and the PFL institutions themselves,” the press release states. “Consequently, individual institutions may, at their sole discretion, choose to opt out of the PFL 2021 spring season at any time.”
