FCS Oversight Committee Discusses Annual 12-Game Regular Season
The FCS Oversight Committee has discussed a concept that would permit 12 regular-season contests each year and allow an FCS school to conduct its first contest beginning two Thursdays prior to Labor Day. They will gather more feedback from conferences and other key FCS stakeholders and will discuss next month (April 14) whether to recommend changes.
The FCS season is usually 11 regular-season games unless the weekly calendar in a given year allows for 12 games before Thanksgiving.
If approved, Week 0 would pretty much become the new Week 1.
The FCS Oversight Committee is made up of 17 members (15 voting members), including:
- 1 Student-Athlete
- 1 Faculty Athletics representative
- 13 FCS representatives (1 from each FCS conference AND must include 1 conference commissioner, 1 conference football administrator, 1 head coach)

- Chair of the Division I Football Championship Committee
