Gage Gubrud and the Eastern Washington Eagles hit the road Saturday to take on Montana and left Missoula with a notch in the "win" column and a new name (OK, actually a new number) in the record books.

If you only watched the first half, you might be confused why this article mentions Gage Gubrud's record-setting day. After the first two quarters Montana led 24-6 as EWU managed just a pair of field goals and was out-gained 307-220.
That all changed in the second half, when Eastern out-scored Montana 42-17 to notch the 48-41 Big Sky Conference victory.
Gubrud bested his own records in the win, completing 44-of-65 passes for a new Eagles' best 549 passing yards and four touchdowns. According to EWU Athletics, the game was his 13th 300-yard showing in 21 career games, and it was the 7th time he's thrown at least 400 yards. It marked the second time in his career he threw for 500 yards, and broke his personal and school single-game record of 520 yards, set last year against Montana State.

Eastern Washington improved to 2-2 on the season (1-0 Big Sky) while Montana fell to an early 0-1 conference record. The Griz are also 2-2 overall.
