9: Chase Fourcade, QB (Sr.) — Nicholls

In his first career start as a true freshman in 2016, Fourcade threw two touchdowns in a near-upset of No. 9 Georgia (a 26-24 loss). He's been nothing but special since and enters his senior season with 35 career starts.

Fourcade threw for 2,482 yards, 18 touchdowns and 14 interceptions along with nine rushing TDs in 2016. He earned All-Southland Conference Honorable Mention honors, was named to the HERO Sports Freshman All-American Team and finished sixth in voting for the Jerry Rice Award given to the top freshman in the FCS.

In 2017, Fourcade threw for 2,316 yards, 14 TDs and 13 interceptions. He then stepped up his game in a big way last year.

Leading Nicholls to the second round of the playoffs, Fourcade went 214-352 passing for 2,930 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions and added 659 rushing yards and 13 more scores. The 6-foot, 200-pounder was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year.

Even though he may not be as flashy or have those gaudy statistics like others, Fourcade is a top quarterback in the FCS. We recognize him on our Preseason All-American Third Team.
