44: Darin Greenfield, DL (Sr.) — South Dakota

Greenfield came to USD as a walk-on. He hopes to leave it a three-year All-American when his senior season wraps up this year.

After showing he can contribute as a redshirt freshman in 2016 with four sacks and seven tackles for loss, Greenfield exploded as a starter in 2017. He totaled 59 tackles, 19.5 tackles for a loss and nine sacks. The Iowa native earned All-American honors from HERO Sports, STATS, the AP and Phil Steele while also being named to the All-MVFC First Team.

Last year, his numbers dipped down a little, but Greenfield was still one of the more feared defensive players in the Valley. He ranked second in the conference with 14.5 tackles for loss and added 55 tackles, six sacks and 13 quarterback hurries. Greenfield, who's 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, earned another All-Conference First Team honor and was named a Walter Camp All-American.

The career numbers are impressive: 141 tackles, 41 TFLs and 19 sacks. Greenfield is motivated to have his best season as a senior and we're expecting it, naming him a Preseason Second Team All-American.
