15: Jake Maier, QB (Sr.) — UC Davis

Maier is viewed by many as the best quarterback in the FCS entering this season and a front-runner for the Walter Payton Award. He's on our preseason All-American First Team, one of many preseason honors.

Maier is in his third year starting for the Aggies after transferring from Long Beach City College for the 2017 season. He began his college career by redshirting at Sacred Heart in 2015. In 2017, Maier was named the Big Sky's Newcomer of the Year while going 306-446 passing for 3,669 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

He was even better last year. Maier went 364-557 passing for 3,931 yards, 34 TDs and 10 interceptions. His passing touchdowns ranked second in the FCS, the 3,931 yards passing ranked third and his 302.4 passing yards per game ranked fourth.

Maier was named the Big Sky's Offensive Player of the Year, earned All-Conference First Team honors along with being named to multiple All-American teams.
