Welcome to the 2019 FCS Kickoff Jersey Countdown.
The regular season begins Saturday, Aug. 24 with Samford vs. Youngstown State in the Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff along with Villanova playing at Colgate.

HERO Sports is going to count down each day by highlighting the best player in the FCS who wears the jersey number equal to the number of days until kickoff. You can find the running list of top players here.

98: Joseph Randolph II, (Sr.) — The Citadel
Randolph stepped up his game from 2017 to 2018 in a big way. The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder improved from 10 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack to last year's 37 tackles, 14 TFLs, four sacks and four QB hurries.
His play earned him First Team All-SoCon honors by the media and Second Team by the coaches.
Randolph's best game came against SoCon champ East Tennessee State, where he had 3.5 TFLs and 1.5 sacks. The Citadel is loaded with returning starters in 2019, and this defensive standout will be key in the Bulldogs returning to the playoffs.
