FCS: The 2020 Recruiting Rankings – Team And Individual

The FCS recruiting picture is going from foggy to a tad bit more in focus, and we at HERO Sports figured we’d put together a preliminary national ranking — both for individual commitments to the FCS, and for schools. We will not attempt to rank again until we begin getting closer to the February national signing period opening up, as the FCS postseason will be the lone focus from now until we get past the national championship game in Frisco, Texas.

Ah yes, the team rankings. So how do we arrive at these rankings? Well folks, I’ve spent months vetting the nearly 600 high school recruits I have verified as FCS commitments up to this point. Transfers don’t figure into this, we’ll rank them at a much later date. I’ve used a tiered point system to assign weight to the scholarship offers these athletes have received, then I added up each school’s recruits (the schools are not allowed to publicize their classes yet, so I’ve looked at diehard fan blogs, asked current recruits for their lists (recruits can talk, schools can’t) and also searched social media using school’s recruiting hashtags to follow the news. It is a meticulous process, one that no one else has attempted to do. But this list is accurate as of Nov. 20.

Every commitment to a school helps his future school’s team ranking. The more offers a recruit has, the more coveted he obvious was and the bigger recruiting victory he was for the school. Now, this isn’t trying to predict the next Carson Wentz or P.J. Hall … we know that young men possessing only one or two offers sometimes become All-Americans and NFL Draft picks because they flourish at the college level. This is only meant to show which recruits held multiple offers, and did they have FBS and P5 options also. When a recruit has 23 offers, including 10 from FBS schools … that’s a big “recruiting win” for an FCS staff, and trust me, they get happy about it.

Here are the rankings:
