Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-September months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
11: DeAngelo Wilson, WR (Sr.) — Austin Peay
After earning valuable playing time as a true freshman in 2017, Wilson had a breakthrough sophomore season with 28 catches for 478 yards and seven touchdowns.
He then burst onto the national scene last year, breaking multiple school records: receptions (89), receiving yards (1,564), touchdown receptions (15) and receiving yards per game (104.3). Wilson added 211 punt return yards and 60 rushing yards.
The 5-foot-9, 170-pound play-maker earned Second Team All-OVC honors along with Second Team All-American nods from STATS and the AP. HERO Sports named him a First Team All-American.
Wilson, a former two-star recruit out of Bowling Green, Kentucky, is on our preseason All-American First Team. He did not play in Austin Peay’s Aug. 29 season-opener against Central Arkansas.
