Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
69: J’Von Brown, OL (Sr.) — Central Connecticut State
J’Von Brown entered his senior season in 2019 with huge expectations. A preseason All-American, Brown’s anticipated year was limited to only four games due to a shoulder injury. Thanks to him playing as a true freshman in 2016, Brown was able to redshirt.
He comes back in 2020 as a HERO Sports Second Team All-American.
The 6-foot-3, 320-pound guard is a two-time All-NEC First Team selection and was a 2018 Second Team All-American. Brown, a punishing blocker, began to pick up NFL interest after his junior season. Some of that has cooled off after his injury, which is typical for FCS players.
But a CCSU coach tells us Brown is fully healthy and ready to go. If he plays up to expectations in 2020, Brown will rise on NFL Draft boards once again.
