Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.

41: Luis Aguilar, K (Sr.) — Northern Arizona
After contributing as a solid kicker/punter and showing big-leg potential in his first two seasons, Aguilar had a breakthrough junior year. He developed into the best kicker in the FCS and was named to seven different 2019 All-American First Teams along with All-Big Sky First Team honors.
Aguilar made all 52 extra points and nailed 22-of-25 field goals. He set the school record with his 88 percent FG percentage and his 118 points scored.
Not only was he accurate, but Aguilar showed off his leg strength as well. He hit a career-high 57-yard field goal and also made a 54-yard field goal while totaling an FCS-high 61 touchbacks on kickoffs.
You can also add clutchness to his accuracy and power. His 54-yard FG gave NAU a fourth-quarter lead against No. 8 Sacramento State. Aguilar hit a game-winning 38-yard FG with four seconds remaining to beat Portland State. And he sent the game against Idaho to overtime with a 19-yard FG with two seconds remaining.
His junior season has grabbed the attention of NFL scouts. And Aguilar enters 2020 as a HERO Sports preseason First Team All-American.
