Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.

Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.

The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.

*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.

93: Jermaine McDaniel, DL (Jr.) — North Carolina A&T

The rich got richer when Jermaine McDaniel transferred from Appalachian State to NC A&T. With a tradition of strong defense, the Aggies added an elite pass-rushing talent with the 6-foot-3, 235-pounder.

McDaniel led the team in sacks and tackles for loss before missing a few games late in the regular season due to injury. He returned for the Celebration Bowl, helping NC A&T to yet another HBCU national championship when he posted five tackles, 2.5 TFLs and 1.5 sacks against Alcorn State.

McDaniel finished the season with 35 tackles, 9.5 TFLs, six sacks and five quarterback hurries. He earned All-MEAC Second Team Honors.

He is one of several returning All-Conference defensive players for NC A&T. The Aggies eye one more Celebration Bowl run before heading to the Big South in 2021.
