Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
87: Noah Gindorff, TE (Jr.) — North Dakota State
The NDSU tight ends were touchdown-catching machines last year. At one point, Ben Ellefson, Josh Babicz and Noah Gindorff had 15 combined touchdown receptions off of just 29 total catches.
With the All-American Ellefson being a senior last year, Babicz and Gindorff are expected to step up as juniors in 2020. Gindorff, a three-star recruit out of Minnesota who turned down FBS offers from Wyoming and Minnesota, is 6-foot-6 and 266 pounds. He finished 2019 with 10 receptions for 170 yards and six touchdowns. The six receiving TDs were tied for the most on the team.
Gindorff has the size and athleticism to be an elite tight end in the FCS. The ability to run block and also be a threat in the red zone is an offensive coordinator’s dream. With an even bigger role to play, expect a big-time season for Gindorff.
