Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
70: Danny Garza, OL (Sr.) — Prairie View A&M
Garza has been a staple on Prairie View A&M’s offensive line since his freshman season. He’s a three-year starter entering his senior year and has played both guard and center.
The 6-foot-3, 280-pounder was named on the 2019 All-SWAC First Team.
Garza anchored the line for an offense that led the conference in scoring, averaging 35.5 points per game. The Panthers also allowed the fewest sacks (15) in the SWAC while owning the second-best rushing attack (217.5 yards per game). The sacks allowed and scoring offense both ranked in the Top 20 in the FCS.
Garza’s physical presence in the middle of the line has been key for Prairie View A&M. He’ll lead the unit once again as one of the most experienced offensive lineman in the subdivision.
