Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
80: Isaiah Weston, WR (Jr.) — Northern Iowa
Weston enjoyed a huge comeback season in 2019.
As a redshirt freshman in 2017, his debut game saw four catches for 72 yards against Iowa State. He went to catch 22 passes for 380 yards and five touchdowns. Weston then missed all of 2018 after tearing his ACL.
Last year, Weston came back and proved he’s a top wide receiver in the FCS. The 6-foot-4, 208-pounder had 43 receptions for 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was named on the All-MVFC First Team, the HERO Sports Sophomore All-American Team and the overall HERO Sports All-American Third Team.
With next-level size and speed, Weston’s ability to stretch the field really stresses a defense. His 24.49 yards per reception was the best in the FCS last year.
Weston enters 2020 on our All-American Second Team as he’ll be one of the more feared downfield threats in the FCS this year.
