14: Davion Davis, Senior Wide Receiver — Sam Houston State
Southland defensive coordinators are still probably celebrating Jeremiah Briscoe's departure from Huntsville, but they shouldn't party too much. The Bearkats still have a couple of nightmarish offensive weapons, one of whom is All-American receiver Davion Davis.
Davis, the Southland's 2017 Player of the Year, will continue to trash SLC secondaries during his senior season. The monster NFL prospect rang up 2,166 receiving yards over the past two seasons, including 1,206 last year.
Desperate to utilize their key playmaker in as many ways as possible, SHSU had Davis rush eight times for 81 yards in 2017. He also had 281 yards while fielding punts. Last season, he became the fourth player in program history to register a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and a return touchdown in the same season.
The scariest part about Davion Davis might actually be teammate Nathan Stewart. The sophomore Bearkat who plays off Davis had over 1,600 yards last season, as defenses diverted their attention toward Davis.
The lesson? If you leave Davis alone, he'll burn you. If you try to bracket him, his teammates will. Either way, that's a win for Davion.
Expect another season full of wins for Davis before he jumps into the NFL.
