18: Trevor Knight, senior quarterback — New Hampshire
Four days ago, we had the CAA's Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, Rashad Robinson. As it happens, today features the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, UNH signal-caller Trevor Knight.
Knight is the key component that fires the UNH offensive engine. The Wildcats were selected second in the CAA's preseason poll and received two first-place votes; they were also tabbed as high as third in some national preseason polls. Alongside star receiver Neil O'Connor, Knight is an enormous reason for the lofty expectations in Durham.
Knight, a two-year veteran with 26 starts under his belt, will helm the CAA's most vertically explosive offense in 2018. The fifth-year senior should notch his second straight 3,000-yard passing season. With a particularly adept year, Knight could pass the 10,000-yard mark. Either way, Knight is in for a huge year and should be in the running for All-American status and the Walter Payton Award.
New Hampshire's status as a pass-happy team is nothing new. But with Knight throwing the ball, the Wildcats are as dangerous as they've ever been.
