James Madison's reputation as having a top defense in the FCS doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Not only does the 2019 defense have returning starters at every position, but the underclassmen waiting in the wings are something special.
Especially the true freshmen group.

JMU has the No. 1 recruiting class in our CAA rankings. The Dukes have three of the top six commitments/signees in the conference: No. 1 Julio Ayamel (LB), No. 3 Jalen Green (LB) and No. 6 Rick D'Abreu (DL). However, all three of these players didn't sign in December and while they still are committed to JMU, there may be several enticing FBS offers coming their way in these next couple weeks.
Ayamel and Green are the No. 3 and 4 ranked linebacker recruits in the FCS. They have offers from schools like Kentucky and Virginia among many others. D'Abreu is the No. 4 defensive lineman recruit and has seven FBS offers.
The Dukes, defensively, also have the No. 13 ranked recruit in the CAA in DB Jordan White, No. 16 Sean Johns (DL) and No. 26 Taurus Jones (LB). Those three signed with the Dukes in December.
JMU inked eight players during the early signing period. Many pieces to finalizing the recruiting class remain committed but unsigned, including some of the best prospects in the FCS.
It will be an anxious time for JMU fans and the new coaching staff. If the Dukes can keep this recruiting class mostly intact…oh boy. Watch out.
