The countdown to the 2018 college football season is on. Four FCS teams are in action Aug. 25 as Duquesne takes on UMass, Prairie View faces Rice and North Carolina A&T and Jacksonville State square off in ESPN’s FCS Kickoff.

45: Cal Daniels, senior TE/FB — Stony Brook
Every pro-style offense needs a guy like Daniels. A versatile player who can be a punishing fullback or a pass-catching tight end, the 6-foot-2, 255-pounder was key in the Seawolves going 10-3 with a playoff win in 2017. Daniels caught 27 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns last year and was named First Team All-CAA and STATS All-American at fullback.
Daniels is going to be a captain in 2018 as Stony Brook looks to keep the momentum moving forward as a program.
"This upcoming season comes down to our ability as players to see that we are a different team than we were just a year ago," Daniels said. "To have the success that we believe we are capable of achieving, we must continue to grow from our past triumphs in order to achieve our ultimate goals of winning a CAA title and a National Championship."
