FCS Kickoff Countdown: 80 Days, the Best Player in FCS Football that Wears No. 80

The countdown to the 2018 college football season is on. Four FCS teams are in action Aug. 25 as Duquesne takes on UMass, Prairie View faces Rice and North Carolina A&T and Jacksonville State square off in ESPN’s FCS Kickoff.

80: Tamrick Pace, Junior Wide Receiver – Stephen F. Austin

The Southland doesn't lack for talented offensive players, and the underappreciated Tamrick Pace certainly qualifies.

Pace has led Stephen F. Austin in receiving during each of his two years in Nacogdoches, totaling 1,481 yards through the first half of his career. Even during his freshman season, he finished as a top-10 conference receiver in catches, yards and touchdowns. Pace continued to serve as SFA's go-to receiver last season, further developing his knack for home run plays.

For this upcoming season, we're looking for Pace to take the next step in his impressive career. Pace earned an Honorable Mention from the Southland during his freshman season and a Second-Team nod during his sophomore season; with Brandon Cox and Yedidiah Lewis both gone from the conference, this should be Pace's year to earn first-team all-Southland.

We don't necessarily expect the Jacks to be in contention for the conference title, but Pace could still make a splash. He's one or two highlight reels away from national prominence.
