The countdown to the 2018 college football season is on. Four FCS teams are in action Aug. 25 as Duquesne takes on UMass, Prairie View faces Rice and North Carolina A&T and Jacksonville State square off in ESPN’s FCS Kickoff.

85: JJ Jerman, senior kicker – East Tennessee State
Never underestimate the value of special teams. Having a solid kicker and punter can be the difference in tight games. And for the first time in our countdown, we give some love to a specialist.
Jerman has been a consistent kicker for ETSU since his freshman year in 2015. That season, he made all 22 extra-point attempts and was 8-of-13 on field goals. In 2016, Jerman was 18-of-19 on extra points and made 12-of-16 field goals. 2017 marked the third straight year he led the Buccaneers in scoring, this time with 63 points.
As a junior, Jerman earned All-Southern Conference Second Team honors after going 21-of-21 in PATs and 14-of-18 in field goal attempts. He showed his range as well, making 7-of-9 field goal attempts from 40 yards or longer. Jerman looks to climb ETSU's ranks as the best kicker in program history. Currently, he’s third all-time with 61 PATs, fourth with 34 field goals and fifth in scoring with 162 points.
