88: JP Shohfi, junior wide receiver – Yale
Plenty of underrecruited high school stars go on to dominate the ranks of FCS football, but perhaps no one currently enrolled at an FCS school has the ability to make the FBS schools feel that twinge of "we could have had him" regret like like Yale's JP Shohfi.
A prep superstar who set a new national high school record for single-season receiving yards in 2015, Shohfi somehow didn't receive a single FBS offer during his high school recruitment. That landed the talented California kid at Yale for his freshman year — Shohfi wanted to play for someone that truly wanted him, as the Bulldogs did, according to a Sports Illustated piece from February of 2016.
Now about to enter his junior season, Shohfi should serve as the go-to receiver on a Yale offense that's lost its No. 1 possession receiver (Christopher Williams-Lopez, 56 receptions for 594 yards and three TDs) to graduation.
The Bulldogs, who are coming off their first outright conference title in nearly 40 years, should continue trending upward this year. A big part of that could be the emergence of JP Shohfi as one of the premiere players in FCS Football.
In 2017, Shohfi had 25 catches for 427 yards and four touchdowns. As crazy as it sounds, all of those numbers could legitimately be doubled this season.
