The countdown to the 2018 college football season is on. Four FCS teams are in action Aug. 25 as Duquesne takes on UMass, Prairie View faces Rice and North Carolina A&T and Jacksonville State square off in ESPN’s FCS Kickoff.

53: Tyler Davis, senior offensive lineman — The Citadel
An option offense is only going to be successful if the offensive line plays at a high level. Thankfully for The Citadel, they have a good one right in the center. Davis is entering his senior season as experienced as they come. He played in 10 games as a freshman and was named to the All-Southern Conference Freshman Team.
Davis started all 12 games in 2016, either at center or right guard. And last year, he started every game at center, earning All-Conference First Team honors by the coaches and media. The Bulldogs went 5-6 last season after making the playoffs in 2016. But we believe The Citadel will get back on track in 2018. In our season preview, we note how the offensive line remains intact after being relatively young a season ago.
With Davis leading that group as a HERO Sports Preseason All-American Second Team member, The Citadel looks poised to bounce back in a big way and make the SoCon even more competitive this season.
