It's only Week 3, but Saturday might be a must-win game for McNeese if the Cowboys want to make the FCS playoffs. They host Nicholls in the Southland Conference opener.
McNeese is 2-0 heading into this weekend with a more-likely-than-not loss to BYU coming next Saturday. That makes this week's game a huge one against Nicholls, a top team in the Southland. The remaining schedule after the BYU game is not strong, so McNeese needs this quality win.
Last year, we saw the Cowboys get left out of the playoffs at 9-2 with one of the losses being against the Colonels. The reason for that is they didn't have a good win on their resume. With a loss to Nicholls this week, there's a good chance McNeese goes 9-2 again.
