Week 2 of D2 football saw a lot of big performances and big numbers – but not too many did better than BR-19 Harding‘s new starting quarterback Park Parish. In fact, his great play got him nominated for HERO Sports Stud of the Week and there’s still time to vote if you’re reading this on Friday.
Parish put up 13o yards and a touchdown through the air and another 112 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Harding may be a small school in Arkansas, but watch out for their team and quarterback to continue making big plays.
I did a fun Q&A with Parish this week to help fans get to know him, check it out:

Congratulations on being nominated for Stud of the Week, walk us through that game. When did you know you were having a big game, did you feel it even in warm ups? What are your personal goals moving forward?
I really didn’t have any clue what my numbers were until after the game, so I didn’t realize how big of a night it was until later. Honestly I just feel grateful to my offensive line for doing a great job in both the passing and the running game. My goals moving forward are to efficiently run the triple option and get the ball to my play makers, and when my number is called to take care of business.
Pick a teammate to go on vacation with. Why’d you choose him, where are you guys going, and why?
Definitely Bentley Alsup who plays on our defensive line. He’s a Montana native and just a hard-nosed mountain man. I want him to take me backpacking in the wilderness of Montana.
What’s a pre-game ritual you have? Is there a certain meal you have to eat, a certain song you have to listen to?
Several of my teammates and I eat a little hole-in-the-wall cafe called KJ’s just outside of Searcy every game day.
Favorite team bonding activity?
Team float trip that we do in the spring. We float the Spring River in northeast Arkansas and camp out together. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to get to know more about the guys you go to battle with.
After football, what are your plans?
I’m an exercise science major. I’m planning on going on to physical therapy school and eventually opening up a clinic here in the state.
Name a skill or hobby you have outside of sports.
I love to hunt and fish. If I’m not playing ball then I am out in the woods somewhere.
Favorite holiday and why?
Most definitely Easter. Love what the holiday stands for. It’s a holiday that gives hope to people, because it’s a holiday that represents the love that our Savior has for us and the hope we have because of his death and resurrection.
Favorite home cooked meal, and who makes it?
Rib eye and a baked potato by dad, and momma’s apple pie. Doesn’t get any better than that.
Dogs or cats?
Dogs
Favorite movie?
Gladiator
Favorite TV show?
The Office
What’s playing most on your iPod right now?
The band Needtobreathe
What’s your idea of a perfect date?
FIFA night on the Xbox or hammocking/kayaking/hiking; just spending time together outdoors. Actually, definitely the second one.
Guilty pleasure?
I do jam out to my girl Taylor on the reg. Wildest Dreams is my guilty pleasure song.
Excluding your own team, predict who will win the D2 national championship this season.
