If you head over to popular online sports betting sites like Bovada.lv and Sportsbook.ag right now, you'll notice something missing in the college football tab: Heisman Trophy odds and the ability to place a wager.

Apparently Oklahoma Sooners' quarterback Baker Mayfield is such a massive favorite that the books can no longer take the risk of getting their behinds handed to them by savvy sports betters.

Bovada publicist Jimmy Shapiro noted in a release this week that, “Heisman odds are currently off the board as Baker Mayfield is too big of a favorite. He was 1/20 last week and would be even bigger this week.”
Another example of how massive a favorite Mayfield is: The Nevada Gaming Control (NGC) states that all Heisman betting must cease on November 19. The Sooners' QB was -2,000 at that time before the odds were pulled. Because Bovada doesn't operate under the jurisdiction of the NGC, it could accept wagers on the Heisman Trophy this week if it so desired, but with Mayfield having a stranglehold on the award, it can no longer risk taking bets.
The only other college football standouts even remotely in the Heisman conversation are Saquon Barkley of Penn State at plus 1,000 and Bryce Love of Stanford also at plus 1,000.
So sure, a one dollar bet will net you $1,000 if you take either running back, but the odds of that happening are about as good as Tennessee conducting a head coaching search with class and poise.
As Baker prepares to win college football's most prestigious award, watch for yourself why he's the Heisman Trophy front runner.
