When I was a little kid in the 1980s, my father took me to a Santa Clara Broncos home game where I was first introduced to future San Francisco 49ers star tight end Brent Jones.
In 1991, I can remember watching San Jose State on television play in a wild 64-47 win over the Pacific Tigers Why is it impossible for a Bay Area kid these days to have similar experiences?

That's because both Santa Clara and Pacific ditched their football programs some time ago. So while we won't be able to watch the following teams this fall, we can reflect on some of the sweet helmets and they rocked back in the day.
