After a season with horrific quarterback play, Auburn picked up a huge commitment at the position over the weekend. Although Tigers’ fans must wait until 2018 for Joey Gatewood to hit the field, the big-bodied dual-threat quarterback is a potential game-changer.
At 6-3, 225 pounds and boasting a versatile skill set, the sophomore from Bartram Trail High School (Jacksonville, Fla.) has drawn comparisons to former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton and even Andrew Luck.
“It’s the place I really thought I could see myself at in the future,” Gatewood told 247 Sports. “It’s a great program run by great people and great coaches. It’s great to be a Tiger.”
