Kansas is pumping a staggering sum into their struggling football program.
After announcing plans for dramatic improvements to Memorial Stadium in June, the school released renderings on Friday, one day before the Jayhawks were scheduled to host West Virginia at the 96-year-old stadium.

They unveiled renderings for the project that comes with a $350 million price tag, $300 million of which will go to the stadium, while the remaining $50 will upgrade other athletic facilities, including parts of Allen Fieldhouse.
"These are facilities that could have and maybe should have been done 20-25 years ago," said athletics director Sheahon Zenger, admitting their football facilities are far behind peer institutions.
KU alum David Booth — who made headlines for purchasing James Naismith's rules of basketball and donating them to the school — made a $50 million pledge, the largest single donation in school history.
“A competitive football program benefits the entire university and is important for KU to continue to be a strong member of the Big 12 Conference,” said recently appointed KU chancellor Douglas Girod. “In recent years, we have transformed the university with nearly $1 billion in new and renovated facilities, and this is the next step in that transformation.”
