Davenport was a 6-foot-5, 190-pound defensive end from Stevens High School in San Antonio. He was a two-star recruit and ranked as the 124th-best weak-side defensive end and 2,613th-best recruit in the nation.
Two thousand six hundred and twelve players were ranked ahead of him.
Davenport had two offers: Texas-San Antonio and UNLV. He accepted the latter, visiting Las Vegas in December 2013 and committing to the Runnin' Rebels a month later. Davenport then decommitted and signed with the Roadrunners in February, joining a recruiting class that ranked 127th nationally, only above Idaho and Wyoming in the FBS.
Four years and 21.5 sacks later, the now-6-foot-6, 264-pounder is widely projected as a top-20 selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.
