BR-47 Miami‘s 30-27 victory over BR-38 Duke in Week 9 should never have occurred. The eight-lateral effort on a game-ending kickoff return was impressive and one of the most dramatic plays in college football history, but it’s one that was marred by at least four missed calls. The botched calls led the ACC to suspend both the on-field and replay officials for two games and although it was a smart, swift move by the conference, it doesn’t reverse the game’s outcome.
You will not find one Miami player, coach or fan that truly believes it was a fair return but you also cannot fault them for accepting the win and moving on to Week 10. It’s also hard to knock the school for making extra cash off the remarkable play.
The Hurricanes already created t-shirts that depict “The Return”.
