Rashan Gary was the top-ranked defensive tackle and top-ranked player in the 2016 recruiting class. He's part of a small group of players to ever earn a perfect 1.0000 247Sports Composite rating. We knew Gary was good. Jim Harbaugh knew Gary was good. Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown knew Gary was good.
So the question became, "How good is Rashan Gary? Is he the best that Brown, a coaching veteran of 40 years, has ever seen?"
Yes.
“Best I’ve ever seen,” Brown said last year. “Best I’ve ever seen combining speed, strength, change of direction, and the mental curve. He’s unbelievable. The sky is the limit."
Gary enters what is presumably his final season with 17 career tackles for loss, six sacks and several look-at-his-motor plays like the one above vs. Florida. He's the best No. 3 in college football and a likely top-10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
