COACH OF THE YEAR
Jon Shehan, BR-2 Millersville
The Marauders have always been a contender in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, and won the conference title for the fourth straight year this season. No small feat considering the PSAC is one of the better conferences in D2 baseball — one that produced a recent national champion (West Chester, 2012) and the last 11 Atlantic Regional champs.
This year, Shehan managed his squad through the Atlantic Regionals with three full-time starters hitting at least .400 and one of the most dominant starting rotations in the nation. The Marauders became the third team in PSAC history to reach the championship round (West Chester, 2012; Mansfield, 1992) and, despite falling just short of the national title, made their presence felt not only in the Atlantic Region, but on the national stage as well.
Additionally, Millersville finished fourth in the HERO Sports 2016 D2 Baseball Breakout Team of the Year metric. They improved their rank from BR-54 at the end of last season to BR-2 at the end of this year, and improved by eight wins year-over-year in the process.
