The Battle for the Black Diamond Trophy was as a good as – if not better than – anyone could have imagined on this lazy September Sunday. The #21 Virginia Tech Hokies survived a late drive by #22 West Virginia, putting up a last-second stand that will do down in the lore of this particular rivalry.
The two schools hadn't played in over a decade, but if their games are always like this it should become a yearly fixture. New Hokies quarterback Josh Jackson accounted for a couple of touchdowns and over 300 yards of total offense as he led his school to victory.
