Browns Stockpile Picks, Could Make Play for Garoppolo, Cousins

Browns Stockpile Picks, Could Make Play for Garoppolo, Cousins

The Cleveland Browns did the unthinkable during the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Not only were they the first team since the Minnesota Vikings in 2013 to select three players in the first round, they managed to do so while acquiring more picks.

They entered the night with 11 picks in both the 2017 and 2018 drafts, including two in Thursday's first round. After selecting Myles Garrett at No. 1, the Browns dealt No. 12 to the Houston Texans for No. 25 and a first-round pick in 2018 — the Browns already owned the Texans' 2018 second-rounder from the Brock Osweiler trade. But after taking Jabrill Peppers at No. 25, they weren't done, trading the 33rd and 108th picks to Green Bay for No. 29, where they drafted David Njoku.

Despite the volume, the Browns ended the night with seven more picks this season and 12 in 2018. They may use those to trade for a quarterback.

Cleveland reportedly tried to acquire Kirk Cousins from the Washington Redskins on Thursday, according Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Rumors over ties to New England's Jimmy Garoppolo have swirled for months. Or might they go after (purely unconfirmed speculation) a lower-profile backup such as Ryan Nassib of the New York Giants, A.J. McCarron of the Bengals or Bryce Petty of the New York Jets?

They have the picks to make anything happen. Anything. Here's a look at the 19 remaining picks in the 2017 and 2018 drafts:
