Between now and the end of April, we will feature some of the NFL stars of tomorrow. Many of these are names from big time college football programs you will recognize, while some will be new to all but the most dedicated followers of the sport.
Today we are looking at another player who stood out at the NFL Combine. Zay Jones of East Carolina came into this pre-draft period trying to show he was more than just a product of the system with the Pirates. After starring at the Senior Bowl, Jones backed up his play in Indianapolis and the most dangerous playmaker in the American Athletic Conference is doing nothing other than rising up draft boards at this point.
Jones is the most prolific pass catcher in the history of college football so you wouldn't think that he would have all that much to prove to the NFL Scouts. The NFL being the NFL though needs players to produce in all situations and Jones did exactly that by running a 4.45 in the 40-yard-dash to silence any questions about his speed.
As you can see from this video there are no questions about Jones catching ability and he showed just why he was able to make 158 catches last season in the various combine passing drills. Jones is still heating up in this long process and at this point he can expect to be the fourth or fifth receiver off of the board.
