While the change in the overtime rule – the period will now last 10 minutes instead of 15 – was the most significant change to come out of the NFL owners meetings in Chicago from a competitions standpoint, it was another rule change that will hopefully give the league back some of its fun.

The league announced in an open letter to fans that touchdown celebrations are to return to the game, with the caveat that they cannot go on for an extended period of time.
"We know that you love the spontaneous displays of emotion that come after a spectacular touchdown," Goodell wrote in the letter. "And players have told us they want more freedom to be able to express themselves and celebrate their athletic achievements."
