When the Eagles and Patriots hit the field for Super Bowl LII, the vast majority of the players who will take the field were 3-star recruits or lower heading into to college.

As you'd expect, 3-star players are the most common across the combined rosters of the Eagles and Patriots — kind of a no-brainer considering the way recruiting rankings work.
But you'll also see a large number of 2- and no-star recruits on these two rosters.

Here's a breakdown by recruiting ranking of the entire combined 106-man Super Bowl rosters for the Eagles and Patriots (active rosters as of 1/22/2018, recruiting rankings per 247 Sports).
Recruiting Rankings for Super Bowl Active Roster Players
As you can see, the rosters are largely filled with 3-star recruits, 42 combined between the two teams. That out-totals the 33 combined 4- and 5-star recruits on the roster.
When you go past the 3-star guys, you'll see twelve 2-star players, 18 unranked players and Tom Brady, who is too old for conventional recruiting rankings (although most recruiting services today speculate he would have been a 4-star recruit based on the interest and offers he drew).
Here's the full roster broken down by percentages:
Super Bowl LII Active Roster Breakdown by Recruiting Rankings
If you do the math (and I did), assuming Brady was likely of 4-star recruiting caliber, that leaves 67.9 percent of the roster compiled of 3-star recruits or lower, and 28.3 percent of the roster composed of 2-star or unranked high school prospects.

Breakdown by Team
Let's go one step further and look at a team-by-team breakdown of recruiting rankings.

Patriots Active Roster Breakdown by Recruiting Rankings
The Patriots roster is heavily skewed toward 3-star players, with 25 of 53 players on the active roster beginning their college careers as 3-star talents. In total, 75.5 percent of the Patriots roster was a 3-star recruit or lower, with 10 players not ranked at all.
On the flip side, the Patriots have just one former 5-star recruit, former Texas defensive lineman Malcom Brown.

Eagles Active Roster Breakdown by Recruiting Rankings
Where the Patriots roster trends toward low-ranked recruits, the Eagles roster is a bit more balanced, with no recruiting bracket featuring more than 17 players. The 3-star recruits make up 32.1 percent of the Eagles' active roster, less than a third of the team.
The Eagles have six of the seven former 5-star recruits on the two combined rosters, with three of those players — Nigel Bradham, Ronald Darby and Tim Jernigan — hailing from Florida State.
Philadelphia and New England have the exact same number of combined unranked and 2-star recruits — 15 total each.
