In an ode to one of the greatest moments in television history, Nick Mangold retired from the New York Jets on Tuesday.
I DECLARE RETIREMENNNTTTTTTT!
I will be signing a one day deal with @nyjets next week so I can retire a Jet.
Thank you to all!

For those who did not catch the reference, it is a call back to a scene from the universally loved sitcom, 'The Office.' In it, beloved doofus, Michael Scott is told to declare bankruptcy to help his exponentially growing debt. He does so in spectacular fashion.
Would it have been better had Mangold entered Jets headquarters and yelled, "I declare retirement" much like the show he was obviously referencing?
Yes.
Having said that, Mangold's attempt to bring light to a professional's career coming to a close is superb.
Mangold was a rock for the Jets since being New York's first selection in 2006. He was a Pro Bowler in seven of his 11 seasons and was a two-time All-Pro ('09-'10). He has battled injuries the last couple of years and finally decided to call it a career.
The Jets o-line was terrible last year, ranking near the bottom. With Mangold's retirement, you can add center to the growing list of needs New York will hope to address in the draft.
As for Mangold, he is still intent on finding a way to win a championship.
“My biggest regret is not bringing the Lombardi Trophy to New York but, as I retire, I will continue my efforts to bring the Trophy home in a different capacity," he said. "I have no idea what that capacity is but I’m sure I will figure something out in the future.”
Hey Nick, we have an idea.
