Six Northwestern football players hail from either New York or neighboring New Jersey, meaning a least a couple must be Yankees' fans. After the Wildcats' trip to Yankee Stadium for the Pinstripe Bowl, a few more might jump on the bandwagon, especially if they get a custom purple Yankees' cap in their gift bags.

For the first time in the bowl's seven-year existence, Northwestern play in the Pinstripe Bowl against Pittsburgh, who is also making their first appearance. Although the 6-6 finish and mid-level bowl invitation isn't what Pat Fitzgerald's team had in mind coming off a 10-win season, their second in four seasons, it's still a nice consolation prize, as the awesome New Era caps.
