Notre Dame is honoring one the most iconic figures in sports history with special uniforms.
Knute Rockne, a Norwegian immigrant, was an All-American end for Notre Dame (1910-13) before coaching the Irish from 1914-30, the final 13 years as head coach. He won five national championships, had five undefeated seasons and a career winning percentage of .881 (105-12-5), which remains the highest for any college or professional coach.
Rockne's career and life ended in March 1931 when he died in plane crash in rural Kansas. Eighty-six years after his death, he remains a household name and legend in the sports world. And for their Nov. 18 home game against Navy, Notre Dame will honor him with special "Rockne Heritage" uniforms.

"I think it is a unique opportunity with this uniform to celebrate the past while creating the future," said Under Armour design director Nick Billiris. "That's why we incorporated some of these elements that harken back to the 1920s and 1930s when Knute Rockne was there, but we did it with cutting edge fabrics and technology. The whole idea is that this uniform is a time-capsule of Notre Dame football from when Rockne first grew the football program into the national power it has become today."
