There was a time earlier this season where it looked like Texas football was back at the top. The Longhorns beat Notre Dame in a classic on the opening weekend of the college football season, which was supposed to springboard Texas football back to national prominence. Instead, the Longhorns had almost half a century of points hung on them in three of four games and have lost the last two contests.
The game against Oklahoma State on Saturday ended with a 49-31 win for the Cowboys, with the Pokes blocking three Texas extra point attempts. Three blocked extra points? This seems maybe feasible at the high school level, but not in college football. To compound the misery, one of those blocked kicks was returned for two points.
The cool thing about this play is the lateral to the faster player that makes it happen. Far too many players would run blindly forward until tackled, so this was a heady play.
