Although the NFL playoffs get going this weekend, it's never too early to start speculating on where free agents will land this spring and summer. It's especially intriguing to take a step back and look at the oldest NFL free agents at each position.
The list is interesting on numerous fronts, including a 39-year-old quarterback that just led his squad to a division title, as well as perhaps the greatest kicker in NFL history that's still going strong at the astounding age of 45.
Here are the five oldest NFL free agents in 2018 broken down by position.
Note: The age of each player below represents how old they will be at the start of free agency, which gets going on March 14 at 4 PM ET.
Drew Brees is not only the oldest QB enjoying free agency in 2018, but also clearly the most talented.
Additionally, five different quarterbacks will be 34 when free agency begins, but by birthday the two listed below are the oldest.
Only five fullbacks in the entire NFL are slated to become free agents this March.
The two oldest free agents at running back are still going strong although Darren Sproles will be coming back from the broken arm and torn ACL he experienced on the same play back in September.
The oldest tight end on this list has been with the Chargers his entire career starting back in 2003.
Arizona Cardinals' Khalif Barnes leads the way as the oldest offensive tackle on the free agent market.
Ahmad Brooks just barely missed cracking the top five by about a month and a half behind Haloti Ngata.
Michael Wilhoite edges Rey Maualuga for the fifth spot by about six weeks.
Terence Newman is far and away the oldest defensive back to enter free agency this season.
Future Hall of Fame kicker Adam Vinatieri is also the oldest current player in the National Football League.
