Twenty FBS programs have first-year head coaches for the 2018 season. Only one of those programs, however, fired their head coach during the 2017 regular season: Georgia Southern fired head coach Tyson Summers after six games. Other programs made in-season coaching changes, including UTEP, though, in the case of the Miners, head coach Sean Kugler was not fired; he resigned after five games.
