Between now and the end of April, we will feature some of the NFL stars of tomorrow. Many of these are names from big time college football programs you will recognize, while some will be new to all but the most dedicated followers of the sport.
Today we are looking at the scouting report of Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer. Kizer had a stop-start career in college under Brian Kelly, but there are many that think he will excel at the professional level.
There are a number of draft sites that have Kizer being taken at the back end of the first round of the draft with Kansas City often cited as a potential landing spot for the former Fighting Irish passer. This makes sense in a number of ways as incumbent quarterback Alex Smith is not getting any younger and there is are many that will tell you the Chiefs will not improve their chances of a Super Bowl run with Smith as their passer.
You will often hear Kizer compared to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Both are big quarterbacks with a ton of arm strength who are just as dangerous when sitting in the pocket or under pressure in a scramble situation.
There are some questions about Kizer's mechanics, but if he can find a situation with a coach that will work on the finer points of the position then he certainly has the natural talent to make a living on Sundays.
