The 2017 NFL Draft is coming at us quickly. The yearly extravaganza will take place in Philadelphia from Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29 this year. Over the span of three days, a whole host of former college football stars will be finding a new home where they will hopefully impress during the offseason and be able to make a living by playing on Sundays.
Between now and the end of April we will be featuring some of the stars of tomorrow. Many of these are names from big time college football programs you will recognize, while some will be new to all but the most dedicated followers of the sport.
Today we look at Josh Dobbs, a quarterback who seemed to be at Tennessee forever as he tore up the SEC with his ability to either pass or run with the football.

The NFL Draft often works on comparisons. If you buy into that then it is probably worth noting that the comparison most often thrown around when talking about Josh Dobbs is that of former Mississippi State (and current Dallas Cowboys) quarterback Dak Prescott.
Neither Prescott nor Dobbs is the biggest quarterback around and neither has the arm strength that is going to blow away scouts at the combine. What both do well though is have great athleticism and the ability to make every throw in the book. Dobbs is the kind of quarterback that plays above his measurements and that if (like Prescott) he lands in an advantageous situation with the right supporting staff he will succeed.
This is because of the intelligence, confidence, and leadership skills that allowed Dobbs to be such a success at Tennessee. His ability to take command of a huddle and quickly understand an NFL playbook are traits that coaches love in a quarterback. Add in the kind of highlight plays that you can see on this video and it is easy to see why Dobbs could be an outstanding pick-up for a team with a no pressure situation.
