A handful of them are good enough start right away, and basically just expand their stardom from college football to the NFL. That’s definitely not the norm though. Most players need at least a year or two in the league to make a name for themselves, and in that time, casual football fans often forget where these players came from.

But you’re no casual football fan. You know that Calvin Johnson was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech. You know the highest a D3 football player has ever been taken in the draft was Hobart guard Ali Marpet, who was selected second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay.
