SEC Teams Make Most Football Recruiting Offers of Any Conference — By a Mile

Seventeen FBS programs have made at least 300 offers to 2019 prospects. Four of those programs are in the SEC, three of which have made at least 380 offers.

According to 247Sports, Southern Miss has made more 2019 offers than any FBS program (430), but SEC programs, led by second-ranked Tennessee (427), have an average of 49 more offers than any other conference (285 average offers). The Vols' 427 offers have produced 20 commitments, which ranks 15th in the country, and the SEC's 18.6 average commits are the most by far. The SEC, however, ranks sixth among 10 conferences in commit rate. Only 261 of their 3,996 total offers (6.5 percent) have been accepted.

The ACC ranks second in average offers (236), followed by the Big Ten (235), American (207) and MAC (203). The Sun Belt (195), Conference USA (176), Pac-12 (165), Big 12 (153) and Mountain West (147) rank sixth through 10th, respectively. The Mountain West is 10th despite Air Force's 414 offers ranking fourth nationally. The Falcons are the conference's only team with more than 200 offers.

The Big 12 ranks first in commit rate (10 percent of their 1,530 offers have been accepted), followed by the Pac-12 (8.2 percent), ACC (7.1), Big Ten (6.8) and American (6.7). The SEC (6.5), MAC (6.3), Conference USA (6.2), Sun Belt (5.5) and Mountain West (5.2) round it out.

Southern Miss, Tennessee, Syracuse (424) and Air Force are the only teams with at least 400 offers. On a more selective note, 13 teams have fewer than 100 offers, including three with 75 or fewer offers: Boise State (75), Stanford (70), UCLA (67).

Recruit-Offers-School

Despite having the second-fewest offers, Stanford has the second-highest commitment rate (18.6 percent), only behind North Texas (19.4 percent on 108 offers). Of the 27 programs with a commit rate of at least 10 percent (17 of which are Power Five programs), zero have more than 200 offers.

The worst commit rate belongs to Colorado State (1 percent), who's one of four teams below 2 percent (UMass, 1.3 percent; Kansas, 1.2 percent; New Mexico State, 1.1 percent). None of those teams have more than 200 offers, but New Mexico State (88) is the only team with fewer than 150 offers.

Power Five teams have an average of 220 offers and 16.2 commitments (7.4 percent commit rate). Group of Five teams have an average of 183 offers and 10.9 commitments (6 percent commit rate).
