SEC Recruiting: Who Won the Week? June 19-25

If you're a fan of SEC football, there's a good chance you're a follower of SEC recruiting … and in recruiting, news never sleeps. It is a 365-day a year battle for supremacy, with key battles won and lost as early as May, as much as they are in February and during fall visits.

Today, we look at the past week — Monday, June 19 through Sunday night, June 25. With summer camps and combines, as well as on-campus unofficial visits, things can get busy in SEC recruiting.

This week alone we saw class of 2018 and even 2019 prospects commit to SEC schools.

HERO Sports will give you an idea of who won the past week each Monday, using the 247Sports.com composite ranking — which averages all services.

WHICH SEC TEAM WON THE WEEK?

TENNESSEE

tennessee-logo (1)THE SKINNY: Defensive end recruit Jamarcus Chatman was a massive recruiting "get" when he dropped LSU last weekend after visiting Rocky Top, and then this weekend he committed to the Volunteers. He wasn't the only news though, as 4-star running back Lyn-J Dixon out of Butler (Ga.) — the second-best commitment in the SEC last week — came aboard, as well as 3-star RB Anthony Grant out of Rome (Ga.). To round it out, little known 3-star CB Tanner Ingle out of Orlando (Fla.) also pledged. It's a long way to national signing day, but it was a good week's work for the Volunteers' coaching staff.

WHO IS NEXT?: LSU was a close second in the recruiting game, and Vanderbilt had a nice week after winning last week.

WHO LANDED THE TOP PROSPECT?

ALABAMA – CB Jalyn Armour-Davis (2018)

alabama-logoTHE SKINNY: Alabama landed the No. 120 prospect in America in Armour-Davis, as well as the No. 3 prospect in Alabama and the No. 15 cornerback. Alabama's recruiting class is off to a quiet start so far, but the additions have been impressive for the Crimson Tide. Alabama assistant coach Derrick Ansley responded to the news cryptically (below on Twitter), as coaching staff members can't mention specifics with recruits until signing day — but you have to love the creative ways they use social media to cheer on the news.
